David H. Maguire
David is a senior partner at Maguire & Penrod. He is a uniquely qualified and articulate lawyer who is able to bring out the best possible result on behalf of his clients. He is a graduate of the University of Idaho’s College of Law and he has practiced law all of his life in Pocatello. David’s father, Hugh, started the firm and David has followed in his footsteps since earning his degree nearly 30 years ago.
In 2007, David was inducted as a Charter Member of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyers’ honorary society representing less than 1% of the trial lawyers in the United States.
David is well respected throughout the legal community for his integrity, courtroom skills and his commitment to his clients. His intensity in the courtroom is simply a by-product of the commitment he feels to the people who place their trust in him.
By working closely with people throughout the legal process, he is able to help his clients through difficult times, often when the stakes are at their highest. David typically leaves no stone unturned when representing vital interests. He has always believed in negotiating from a position of strength.
David has 30 years of experience in personal injury claims, commercial claims and business litigation. He also advises clients on other business and corporate matters, including partner relations and stockholder and partner disputes.
David is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel. He is also deeply committed to public service and leadership in civic and educational groups and organizations. Among a very few of his civic functions: David sat on the Pocatello Public Library Board, has been a member of the Southeast Idaho Community Action Agency Board of Directors, has been President of the Friends of the Museum of Idaho State University, is a past President of the Centennial Rotary Club of Pocatello, and currently sits on the Board of Bannock Development Corporation, a regional nonprofit organization comprised of business leaders committed to economic development in Southeast Idaho. David insists on a close working relationship with his clients, cost-effective representation and a commitment to thoroughly and professionally achieve his clients’ goals.
David K. Penrod
David was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was raised in Pocatello. David graduated from Idaho State University and immediately enrolled in law school at the University of Idaho College of Law in Moscow, Idaho. After graduation from law school, David completed a judicial clerkship with the Honorable William H. Woodland in Pocatello. David also worked for Idaho State University as an adjunct professor teaching math classes.
David maintains a broad-based practice representing clients in the areas of accident and personal injury claims, construction law, creditors’ rights, police misconduct and civil rights claims, criminal defense, family law and general litigation. David also works with local medical professionals in handling their general collection matters, as well as their claims under the Idaho Medical Indigency Act.
David is a member of the Idaho State Bar, the Sixth District Bar, the Portneuf Inns of Court, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association. In addition, he continues to work in the community as a CASA volunteer.
David and his wife are the proud parents of four children. In his spare time, David can be found with his family, on the golf course or reading a book on early American history.
